About Federica Rossi

Federica Rossi was born in Parma, Italy in 1972. She lives and works in Collecchio, a village just outside Parma. She obtained a diploma from the Istituto d’Arte Paolo Toschi in Parma in 1991, and  attended the Accademia di Comunicazione in Milan.

In 2004 she moved from simply using oil and acrylic paints to experimenting with other media. She has developed a painting technique that uses oil and acrylic paints, sand, clay, glue, and solidifying substances for strength and durability. The whole creative process is done directly on canvas. As part of the drying process, cracks develop naturally over a period of several days. A creased effect is also created by applying sand and paper to the canvas.

Federica hs been praised by critics for the visceral emotional quality and the sheer physicality of her abstract paintings.

Federica has participated in a number of solo and group exhibitions both in Italy and abroad. Her works are exhibited in many public and private collections.
